A real polished floor — not a coating

True polished concrete isn’t paint or a coating that can peel. It’s the slab itself, mechanically refined through progressively finer diamond grits and chemically densified so the surface hardens, then sealed to repel stains. The result is a floor that gets its sheen from the concrete, not a film on top — so it never delaminates and lasts the life of the slab.

Designer Concrete polishes new and existing slabs across Metro Vancouver to your chosen gloss level and exposure — from a smooth cream finish to a fully exposed-aggregate, terrazzo-like look. One floor, no grout, decades of service.

01

The four-step polishing process

Every floor follows the same engineered sequence. Grit progression and densifier dosage are set to the finish you specify.

  1. 01

    Grind

    Diamond grit 40→200

Coarse metal-bond diamonds flatten the slab and open the surface, removing old coatings, adhesives and high spots.

  2. 02

    Densify

    Lithium silicate

A chemical hardener penetrates and reacts inside the slab, binding the surface tight so it resists abrasion and dusting.

  3. 03

    Polish

    Resin grit 100→3000

Progressively finer resin-bond diamonds refine the surface to your specified sheen — satin, semi-gloss or full mirror.

  4. 04

    Seal

    Penetrating guard

A breathable stain guard is burnished in to repel oil, water and traffic — no film, nothing to peel.

Technical FAQ

Q01Polished concrete vs epoxy — what’s the difference?

Epoxy is a coating on top that can wear or peel. Polished concrete refines the slab itself, so the finish is permanent and never delaminates.

Q02Can you polish my existing slab?

Usually yes — if it’s structurally sound we can grind, densify and polish it, often revealing a beautiful floor that was hidden under flooring.

Q03How shiny can it be?

Anywhere from a soft satin to a high mirror gloss — your choice, set during the final polishing grits.

Q04Is it high-maintenance?

The opposite — dust-mop and occasional damp mop. No waxing, no re-coating.
